In the perpetual motion that is La Mòssa, there is a quartet of four artists determined to blend their voices and percussion while shaking up a few stereotypes. Drawing inspiration from traditional repertoires to craft a gem of a debut album, they now invite us to dive in once again. By creating a set of compositions firmly rooted in the present, these four women challenge, with greater intensity, the apparent simplicity of rhythms and melodies inherited from centuries-old traditions.
La Mòssa continues to gain momentum through its interplay with sounds and the meaning of words. With a repertoire largely composed by the band itself, the group leaves a new mark on its musical journey… Each member contributes to this great musical feast, at once subtle, feverish and committed. Flavours from lands shaped by cultural mixing can be heard throughout: southern Italy as its original foundation, Réunion with its sweet-and-spicy words, Spain poeticised by García Lorca, and Occitania, bold and full of character… Three covers are woven into this new set, with hybrid reinterpretations from Sweden, Venezuela and Puglia.
