Empurany
This small rural village of 573 inhabitants sees its population reach 700 to 800 inhabitants in summer. The etymology of its name would be either Roman (Ampurias) or Greek (Emporion) and would become Ampurany in the 16th century.
The streets of Empurany "la coquette", a floral village, have recovered the ancient names engraved on wooden plaques.
The church of Saint-Michel dates from the 11th century, built in a priory belonging to the monks of Chaise-Dieu and leaning against the south wall of a fort, now disappeared.
It has been redesigned over the centuries to reach its present appearance in the 19th century.
