Serre de la Terrasse

“Maupas” means “the bad passage”. Narrow and dangerous, as it lies between two precipices, the traveller is at the mercy of bad weather, darkness, an unruly horse or an attack by brigands.
From Cadet-Le Maupas, you can admire the Ortie Valley to the west, now abandoned but inhabited 100 years ago by prosperous farms that sold their dairy, fruit and vegetable produce on the Ardèche plateau.
To the east, the view stretches down towards the Syalles Valley and Désaignes.
